Traveling Japan by Limited Express — Together with the Mascots
Nice to meet you, and welcome to mascots-train.com!
This is a railway travel blog chronicling our journeys across Japan aboard limited express trains — always in the company of the Mascots, who share an absolute passion for trains.
It all started quite by chance. Every time I boarded the Shinkansen for a work trip, the same thought kept creeping in: “I wish I could ride something a little more exciting” and “I’d love to take my time and really enjoy the view from the window.” Before I knew it, I was booking Gran Class, researching sightseeing trains, and finding ways to enjoy even the transfer waiting time.
Somewhere along the way, the Mascots started coming along for the ride — and the unexpected incidents on trains, the chance encounters with strangers, and the little surprises along the way have all become irreplaceable travel memories.

A Message to Our Readers
This blog is written for railway enthusiasts of course — but also for anyone who loves travel, even if trains aren’t usually their thing.
Rather than technical knowledge, what we share here is simple and honest: what we discovered by actually riding the trains, what tasted delicious when we tried it, and what was genuinely worth visiting. No pretense, just real experiences.
With a healthy dose of the Mascots’ lovable antics woven throughout, our greatest hope is that readers finish each article thinking: “I’d love to take a trip like that someday.”
Let’s enjoy the journey — together!
All of the Mascots’ trips are booked through Rakuten Travel. For your next adventure
